A disturbing trend has surfaced in Seoul’s Gangnam district, where sexually explicit graffiti targeting K-pop legend BoA has been found in multiple public locations, including bus stops, utility poles, and digital billboard structures.

BoA Fans Outraged Over Explicit Graffiti

The issue came to light through a viral post on theqoo titled “Someone Is Writing Sexually Explicit Messages About SM’s BoA Across Gangnam,” which has already garnered over 65,000 views. According to the post, members of various female-dominated online communities had shared sightings of similar graffiti, pointing to a coordinated and targeted campaign of defacement.

One user uploaded a photo of the graffiti, which was promptly reported to KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation). The company assured the individual that the vandalism would be removed. Some dedicated fans reportedly took matters into their own hands and removed the graffiti late at night.

What has especially alarmed fans is the inclusion of highly offensive language in the graffiti, including references to AIDS, which they view as a malicious and potentially defamatory attack on BoA.

Netizens’ Reactions

Calling the situation “serious,” BoA’s fanbase has mobilized, demanding immediate intervention from SM Entertainment. Many are urging the agency to escalate the case to law enforcement and initiate an investigation using nearby CCTV footage to identify and prosecute the offender.

They added, “We remain committed to protecting our artists and will continue to pursue strict legal measures against all illegal and criminal acts.”

SM’s firm stance comes as both a message of support for BoA and a warning against further defamation.

CCTV Revealed

On June 12, Channel A released footage of a person defacing public property with insulting messages aimed at BoA in various areas of Seoul.

The video, recorded on June 5 in Gangnam District, shows a person with a bob haircut writing something on a “No Parking” sign with a pen. The individual then walks several meters and writes on a utility pole as well.

The graffiti contained vulgar and defamatory remarks directed at BoA. Authorities revealed that the suspect scrawled slurs not only in Gangnam but also in locations such as Gwangjin District, including bus stops, digital billboards, utility boxes, and even alley walls.

Police believe the same individual may be responsible for all the graffiti and are analyzing CCTV footage to trace the suspect’s movements.

The disturbing graffiti targeting BoA has sparked outrage among fans and prompted swift action from both the public and her agency. As police continue to track the suspect using CCTV footage, SM Entertainment has vowed to pursue strong legal measures to protect their artist and prevent further defamation.
